Give your cables a visual check occasionally
While you shouldn't touch or mess with the cables on your garage door at any point or else risk injury from inexperience, you can easily give them a visual inspection periodically to make sure everything looks correct! Look for signs of fraying or if there seems to be damage near any of the various components they’re connected to. If you see anything that looks off, it's best to contact a technician and let him know so he can tend to it!
Don't forget your garage door needs TLC
Your garage door makes up a huge component of the front of your home, so you want to keep it looking its best! You can use a simple all-purpose cleaner to clean the front of your door periodically which will help keep it looking fresh, and it will also give you a chance to spot any marks you might otherwise have missed. Keep in mind that what your door is made out of will change its needs, such as steel doors potentially having rust.
