Why are garage door sensors important?
Photo eyes are placed on each side of your garage door, some 5 or 6 inches above the ground. The infra-red beam between the sensors must be uninterrupted in order for the door to close. If anything breaks the beam, e.g. a child or a pet, the door will reverse and go back up. Long story short - their function is to save lives and prevent injuries, so make sure they work properly.
Is it possible to replace just a panel or two or do I need to replace the whole door?
If the damage to the door isn’t too extensive, you should by all means replace only the panel(s) in question. However, our advice is to have a professional over to inspect your door and inform you about your options. If there isn’t an exact match available on the market or if multiple panels need to be replaced, installing a new door can turn out to be a less expensive solution.
